Matthew says the Bethlehem star led the Wise Men to the manger where Jesus lay (2:9). Mark states that Jesus speaks to the wind and makes it calm (4:39). Matthew, Mark, and Luke all attribute epilepsy to demons. These seem incredible to us, who have a twenty-first century understanding of such events, and can shape the science-religion divide. How, then, can we today interpret these stories in our sacred text?
