A President’s Agenda for the PASTCF

This is my first official “President’s Column” because this is the first SciTech† edition to come out since I was elected president of PASTCF. And I chose to devote the inaugural column written in my new role to laying out some directions that I hope PASTCF will continue to move toward over the next few years. These directions will not be surprising.

One obvious reason they will not be surprising is that they align with the directions in which PASTCF and, more importantly, my immediate predecessor as president, Arnold Rots, have been going. Another obvious reason they will not be surprising is that the need to move in these directions has become, increasingly … well … obvious. And perhaps a slightly less obvious — but hopefully not surprising — reason to continue to move in these directions is that the tensions within and between these directions put on display some of the paradoxes housed within any organization that would explore “science, technology, and the Christian faith” in these complicated times.
